Our Technology

Smart solutions are at the core of all that we do at Environ_Heal.  Our main goal is finding smart and sustainable ways of using technology to recover resource (from waste) which may be in form of energy (electricity) or a product, that will help build a better tomorrow for everyone, everywhere. We use electroactive biofilms for various applications related to wastewater purification, water quality monitoring via biosensing, bioelectrosynthesis and resource recovery. The device that does this is called a Bioelectrochemical System and we are currently developing a low-cost decentralized sanitation system that generates electricity, hydrogen, pure water and fertilizer from urine. Urine is a perfect example of a resource containing nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium (which are excellent fertilizers) and water but unfortunately, we presently consider it as waste and further utilize more energy for its treatment. Another example is plastic solid waste which can be converted into high-value resources such as filaments for 3D printing. Our goal at Environheal is to heal the environment by using state of the art next generation smart technologies of the future.
